The Wheeler Varsity Cheerleaders brought some joy into the lives of some special kindergartners at Powers Ferry Elementary School in December. Ms. Caroline Kelley, kindergarten parapro at Powers Ferry, arranged for the students to submit a wish list of items they would like Santa to bring them. This list was given to the cheerleaders as their winter community service project.
In the past at holiday time, the cheerleaders had
a night out for dinner at a local restaurant and a gift exchange among themselves. This year, however, their dinner was a potluck dinner at one of the cheerleader's homes and the girls spent the evening wrapping gifts and making treats for the children. The project was the cheerleaders' way of giving back to the community and making some children very happy for the holidays. They took their gifts to the students after taking their final exams on Thursday, December 20th. As you can see, both kindergartners and cheerleaders had a wonderful time at the gathering.
