Deadline for Football Program Ads

Dollar_bill You should have all gotten your information regarding sales of ads for the football program at the meeting on April 16th.  The deadline for turning in your ad contracts and money is Wednesday, May 21st.  These should be turned into Coach Marsh in Room 208.  They can also be returned to Wheeler with Coach Marsh's name to the front office for those of you at East Cobb.  Remember, selling these ads is the major fundraiser for Wheeler Cheerleading.  This is your chance to offset the cost of the dues.  If you choose not to sell ads, you are then responsible for the entire amount of the WCA dues.

Make use of all of your contacts (employers, doctors, dentists, restaurants you frequent, any merchant not already listed on the back of this year's football program).  Offer to have your picture taken in uniform at the merchant's place of business.  If the boss isn't in when you call on the merchant, leave behind a flyer explaining the fundraiser and the information he/she may need to make the decision to place an ad.

Be confident and know what you're going to say when you call on the merchant.  Be very polite and
remind them what a great opportunity it is to advertise in the football program (all the fans that go to Wheeler football games will frequent their establishments, etc.).  Look at this as an opportunity to help out Wheeler Cheerleading.  Have fun with it!

Varsity Cheerleaders Invade Q100!

The Varsity cheerleaders were guest hosts on Q100's Adams Bomb's "5 at 9" show on February 29th.  They introduced the top five songs during the 30-minute program and gave shout outs to the boys' basketball team and their friends.  They were invited to guest host as a prelude to the third round of the boys' basketball State tournament.  The Wheeler High School boys' basketball team won the regional tournament and went on to place second in the State tournament.

Varsity Cheerleaders Make Valentine's Day Special for Homeless

The Wheeler Varsity Cheerleaders have joined forces with the United Way to provide toiletries for homeless women through their Shoebox Project.  The cheerleaders filled over twenty shoeboxes with travel size containers of shampoo, soap, toothpaste and other necessary items. The boxes were delivered to the United Way at the end of January.  These shoeboxes will be distributed to homeless women and children by the United Way Women's Legacy as a Valentine's gift.

Last year over a thousand shoeboxes were donated in Cobb for the project.  It is hoped that this year even more can be collected and distributed.

Sydney, Joy and "friend" sort through
shoeboxes on delivery day.

Varsity Cheerleaders Play Santa!

The Wheeler Varsity Cheerleaders brought some joy into the lives of some special kindergartners at Powers Ferry Elementary School in December.  Ms. Caroline Kelley, kindergarten parapro at Powers Ferry, arranged for the students to submit a wish list of items they would like Santa to bring them.  This list was given to the cheerleaders as their winter community service project.

In the past at holiday time, the cheerleaders hadPf5_3 a night out for dinner at a local restaurant and a gift exchange among themselves.  This year, however, their dinner was a potluck dinner at one of the cheerleader's homes and the girls spent the evening wrapping gifts and making treats for the children.  The project was the cheerleaders' way of giving back to the community and making some children very happy for the holidays. They took their gifts to the students after taking their final exams on Thursday, December 20th. As you can see, both kindergartners and cheerleaders had a wonderful time at the gathering.
