Research for background information the relationship between the McCarthy era hearings and the play that Arthur Miller wrote, The Crucible. Also, read in your American Literature red textbooks pages 1234-1237. This is the beginning of Act I and gives you valuable information. We will begin reading the play in class on Wednesday, so look over the parts, note their lenghth, and be prepared to sign up for your part when you come to class on Wednesday.    

Also, begin doing the exercises in your vocabulary book for vocab. 1.

For Friday, aug. 22 rewrite your paragraph on Mubarak Dahir's article ,using your worksheet on basic questions for rhetorical analysis.

Begin reading 1776 and answer study questions as you read. Study questions are due on September 18th.

We will discuss your reading of the introductory material  in your American Lit. book on thursday.
