Feb. 25 - Feb. 29

We continue our poetry unit this week.  Also, we resume our work with vocabulary.  We are currently working on Unit 4.

Feb. 18 - Feb. 22

Now that we have finished our research papers, it is time to begin a new unit.  We will be working on a poetry unit for the next few weeks.  Since this is a short week, we will not resume vocabulary until next week.

Feb. 11 - Feb. 15

This week, we will wrap up our research projects.  We will go to the computer lab several days so the students have ample class time to type and turn in their papers.

Feb. 4 - Feb. 8

This week, we will begin our 2-week-long research project.  The students are researching more about the Holocaust and the Stolen Generation, and comparing the two events.  We will be in the media center several days this week.  While the final research paper is not due until Feb. 15th, the students have small tasks each day that they need to keep up with.

Jan. 28 - Feb. 1

We are finishing up Night this week.  Also, we will study the Stolen Generation, a tragedy placed upon the Australian Aboriginie culture.  We are on Unit 3 in our Vocabulary Workbooks.

This week, we will begin reading the Holocaust novel Night, an autobiographical account of the Holocaust written by survivor Elie Wiesel.  We will continue working in our Vocabulary Workbooks - Unit 2.

This week, we will be looking at several diffent "suspenseful" texts.  We will be reading and working together as a class.  We will also begin Unit 1 in our Vocabulary Workbooks.

Welcome to 10th Grade Literature!  Each week, I will post a rough outline of our week's schedule.  It is important to check the weekly posts if you know you are going to be absent.  This week, we will be engaging in several different "ice breaker" activities.  We will also have our in-class essay writing day on Thursday.  Please brush up on your summer reading books before Thursday.

Sept. 24 - 27

Get excited!!!  Georgia High School Writing Test is this week - Wednesday!!!  In preparation for the exam, we have been and will continue to work on our writing skills, especially our persuasive writing skills.  Later in the week, we will return to the curriculum and begin working with texts from the Revolutionary Period (e.g. Ben Franklin...).  We will also coninue working in our vocab books --> Unit 6.

Monday: introduce vocab; type formal essay (choice of 3)

Sept. 24 - 28

This week, we will focus on our writing skills.  We will work on style as well as grammar.  In addition to working on our writing skills, we will be studying Vocab Unit 6.

Wednesday:  vocab accuracy check; grammar review -->  double negatives, subject/verb agreement
