Sudfents helped get prepared for the first FCCLA meeting.  They had the rest of the period to work on their Wedding Project that is due at the beginning of class on October 3.  The majority of the work will be done outside the class and the students must type all their work and turn in all their work in a folder with plastic sheet protectors.

Standard

Students will explore the growth, development, and care of the newborn.

Students outlined the events in each stage of labor and delivery.  They took notes over early labor signs and watched Journey Into Life. Download labor_and_delivery.ppt (slides 1-5)

August 14-19

The students will continue working on their pregnancy calendars detailing the developmental milestones of the fetus and changes of the mother.

Essential Question- How does harmful prenatal care affect the fetus?

August 13

Students will take notes over Prenatal Development. Download Pregnancy.ppt

The students will individually create a pregnancy calendar outlining the development of the fetus, changes experienced by the mother, and hazards to the pregnancy.  They will have until Tuesday August 19 to complete this assignment.

August 12

To get an idea of what the students currently know about Pregnancy and Prenatal Development, they will complete a Know-Want to know Chart over Chapter 4 of the Developing Child textbook. 

August 27

Thank you to all the parents that attended open house last night!

Today the students worked with their kitchen teams to create two safety posters.  The first poster is on the prevention of common kitchen injuries and the second poster is on the prevention of food bourne illnesses.

These posters will be put on display in their kitchens throughout the school year.

Students watched the Kitchen safety video and took notes on unfamiliar material.  We discussed opportunities of teamwork improvement in their kitchens and reviewed lab expectations.

August 25

FCS FNW 11 Safety and Sanitation

Students finished their kitchen logos.  Students washed all the dishes, silverware, pots, and pans in their respective kitchens.  They also wiped down the cabinets, counters and swept then mopped the floors.
