Latin I Sept 10 2007

Students will be completing stage 4 with the stage 4 culture quiz.  Students should read the selection at the end of stage 4 as well as review the parts of the forum to adequately prepare for the quiz.  Similarly, students will be beginning stage 5, so they should begin reviewing vocabulary from stage 5 to prepare for tuesday's quiz.  The students will be watching a DVD in class about the city of Pompey.  Completion of the worksheet which accompanies the DVD will be taken Tuesday for crustula.

Have a great weekend,

Latin IV Wed Sept 4 2007

Students will warm-up with a reproduction of the subjunctive passive verb chart.  From there they will begin on "Confarreatio I" for a timed written translation which will be completed at sight.  Afterwards students will read the Roman Marriage rituals portion of stage 38, and, time permitting, establish a differentiation of Roman and Modern Marriage contrivances.

Hint: I will probably use a form of "facio" for the quiz

Latin I Wed Sept 5, 2007

Students will begin the class with a quiz identifying first second and third person singular verb forms.  From there they will complete the "in foro" translation for crustula, class will continue with board review of both the quiz and the translation highlighting key grammar points throughout. Afterwards we will begin a cumulative vocabulary review, including derivatives, to help prepare them for the quiz on Thursday.

Hint: make sure you know the "ego" and "tu" are NOT necessary to indicate 1st and 2nd person.

Students should study Stage 4 vocabulary to help them prepare for
Tuesdays quiz. For extra credit they can give me a derivative of the
