Objective: To have students work with a professional mentor in a meaningful internship experience in the student’s chosen math, science or technology related area of interest.

Grading in this course will consist of the following major components:
Internship experience/evaluation (time sheets, employability score) 50%
Classroom assignments/activities/evaluation/class participation 40%
Final exam 10%
*It is your responsibility to attend your internship on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Class will be held in 512 every Wednesday. If you are unable to attend class or your internship for any circumstance, you must notify me and the mentor immediately if the missed day is on a specific internship day. Failure to go to internship or class specified days will result in a disciplinarian referral per the student handbook.

Office Hours/Tutoring: Since I am often off campus visiting internship sites, it is imperative that we set an appointment time to meet if the day is other than Wednesday. I will be at school during most A lunches Monday-Friday. Wednesday will serve as the seminar day, so I will be at school from 8:00-4:00 or later if necessary. Make-Up Policy
Any missed tests, quizzes or homework due to an illness must be completed in the time allotted per the student handbook Timesheets are due when the class meets. If there is a special circumstance regarding the failure to turn in the time sheet, you must type an explanation for not turning in the time sheet.
Behavior Expectations
Consult the The Senior Research Experience Internship Program packet. Behavior code will follow guidelines in the Wheeler High School Student Handbook 2008-2009. Highlight page 9/35 in Student Handbook. Failure to comply with attendance violation can result in your parking privileges being revoked.

Week 10-17-Topics will include a variety covered by the various speakers that visit during Seminar Day (Wednesday). Speakers will help to dictate the direction of the topic chosen. Speakers will cover topics of math, science, technology, as well as general employability skills needed to be successful in the workplace
Week 18-Student presentations, final wrap-up of courses and review and take final exam
